National Public Radio (NPR): Reporter, Ecuador. Reported breaking news via recorded bulletins. Worked closely with editors in Washington on news stories.
Financial Times: Reporter, Ecuador. Wrote and dictated breaking news and feature reports for newspaper and ft.com website on economic, political and sports issues.
CNN television: Stringer, Ecuador. Reported news via regular live telephone interviews and scripted reports on issues such as the 2000 coup d’état, kidnappings, indigenous protests and natural disasters.
Bridge News real-time news agency (formerly part of Knight-Ridder financial): Correspondent, Ecuador/Peru. Supervised two-person Quito bureau for one of the US’s largest real-time financial wire services. Broke economic and political news on issues such as the 2000 coup d’état, foreign debt default, dollarization and social unrest. Also wrote analyses of political and economic issues. Managed four-person Lima bureau at the height of Peru’s political crisis in 2000.
